Redistricting Update: School Board Reverses Elementary Attendance Area Map Decision

On February 25, 2008 the Owen J. Roberts Board of School Directors retracted a decision made at the January, 2008 school board meeting thus restoring the decision to implement map version 18 at the beginning of the 2008-09 school year.  On a vote of 8-1, the board returned the Ridglea Development, located in South Coventry Township, to the West Vincent Elementary School attendance area. 

The decision to return to the earlier map version 18 was in response to concerns raised about potential overcrowded conditions at French Creek Elementary School, the need to move two special education classes from French Creek to make room for the additional students from Ridglea, the budgetary impact of additional staffing necessitated by the change in student enrollment, and the projected under-enrollment in the new West Vincent Elementary School.

The district administration will begin notifying parents of elementary students of their school assignments in a mailing scheduled for March, 2008.
